Car insurance in Albany is overseen at the state level of Georgia. The State has its own guidelines regarding minimum car insurance coverage necessary. Every State have laws on minimum amount of liability coverage a car driver must have to be allowed to legally drive your vehicle. Liability coverage is car insurance that covers damage caused by your car to other people and their property.

Car insurance coverage minimums in Georgia are stated in three segments. For example, in Albany legal minimum are 25/50/15. The first part refers to the maximum amount that the insurance company will shoulder for injuries caused to an individual per accident. The next number is the maximum amount the insurer would cash out for the entire damage caused in a single accident. And the last number corresponds to the maximum amount that the insurer would pay for property damages caused per accident. To illustrate this example, this equates to $ 25,000 of physical injury coverage per victim; $50,000 of physical injury coverage per accident; and $15,000 of property damage coverage per accident in the State where you live right now.

Be reminded that this example is unique for the State of Georgia and it is smart to have more coverage on top of them. So if you were involved in an accident that caused $100,000 worth in physical injury to another motorist, your insurance would only cover the first $25,000. While yourself would shoulder the remaining $75,000 as the person injured would come after you!
